Celestial Chariot: Rath Yatra Celebrations



Rath Yatra celebrated in Puri, Odisha, is a grand Hindu festival marking the annual journey of Lord Jagannatha, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple. Known as the Festival of Chariots, it features colossal, elaborately decorated chariots pulled by devotees, who believe this act brings spiritual merit. The streets of Puri come alive with devotional music, conch shells, and drums as millions gather to witness this vibrant procession. After a nine-day stay, the deities return to the main temple in the equally celebrated Bahuda Yatra.
